The Royal bottom plate assembly for the RY9700 upright vacuum forms the structural base of the nozzle, protecting the brush roll compartment and keeping the machine in proper contact with the floor. It is the surface that defines the sealed channel where agitation and airflow meet.
Damage here is easy to underestimate. A cracked or warped bottom plate lets air leak in around the brush roll, which bleeds off suction, and it allows debris to bypass the brush roll entirely instead of being swept into the airstream. The vacuum runs, but pickup quietly deteriorates.
