The foot pedal on a Riccar R25 upright is what releases the handle from its upright lock so the machine can be reclined. Part C601-2266 is the plastic replacement for it.

Pedals crack because they are pressed with the full weight of a foot, often off-center and usually in a hurry. Once one breaks, the handle stays locked upright and the vacuum can no longer be tilted back, so cleaning under a bed, a desk or a sofa stops being possible and the machine is suddenly only good for open floor.

A new pedal restores the full range of the handle. It fits as a direct swap, and keeping foot pressure over the middle of the pedal rather than out at the edge is what stops the replacement going the same way.
