The Dyson DC33 pre-filter assembly is a replacement pre-motor filter for the DC33 upright and related models. It mounts ahead of the motor, trapping fine dust that gets past the cyclone before that air reaches the motor.

A pre-motor filter loaded with dust restricts airflow, which raises motor temperature and cuts suction, and can eventually trip the thermal shutoff. Fitting a clean assembly protects the motor and brings suction back to full.
