The pedal release is what lets the handle drop back so you can run the nozzle flat under a bed or a sofa, and part AC47AATYZV06 is the replacement for the Panasonic MC-CG973 power nozzle. The same pedal serves the Panasonic MC-V9658 and a long run of Cen-Tec heads: the CT14, CT14DX, CT14DXQD, CT16, CT18DC, CT18DXQD, CT18DXQS, CT20DXQD and CT20DXQS, where it is also catalogued as part 40405.

Pedals fail in two directions. A cracked one gives way underfoot and never releases the catch, leaving the handle locked upright; a pedal whose return has gone stays pressed, and the handle will not lock at all. Either way the machine turns awkward at exactly the moment you need it low.

Check the return pushes the new pedal fully back after each press before reassembling.
