The Panasonic pedal and belt shifter assembly (model MC-UG589) repairs the belt drive shift mechanism on this upright. The assembly controls brush roll engagement, toggling the drive between carpet and bare-floor modes at the pedal.
When the pedal or shifter wears or breaks, the brush roll may refuse to switch modes, staying engaged on hard floors or idle on carpet. A machine stuck in one mode cannot adapt to the surface. Fitting the correct assembly restores clean, reliable mode switching at the pedal.
