Product details

Ahead of the motor on Panasonic's MC-UG323 family of uprights sits a small electrical safeguard, and part AC76FDRZZ000 replaces it, listed here for the MC-UL423-00, MC-UL423T-00, MC-UL425-00, MC-UL427-00, MC-UL427M-00, and MC-UL429-00. Its job goes unnoticed until the day the vacuum simply refuses to start, at which point it turns out to be the single most important component in the machine.

What it actually does is interrupt current to the motor the instant draw spikes too high, shielding the windings from heat damage during a jam or a stalled brushroll. Once it trips, or once age causes it to fail outright, the vacuum will not run no matter what position the switch sits in.

If a cord and outlet have both checked out and the switch clicks the way it should but the machine still stays silent, this small part is an inexpensive one to test before writing the motor off as dead. Fitting a fresh unit puts the protective circuit the motor depends on back in place.

The component is typically wired between the switch and the motor, so unplug the vacuum and trace that run of wiring before pulling the old part loose. Note which terminal each wire connects to as you disconnect them, since the new part needs to go back in the same orientation for the circuit to function.
