Part 09-77038-02 is the replacement motor for Oreck XL21 series uprights, also known by its Johnson designation U-8220. The fan shaft measures 1-1/4 inches. Note that the fan is not supplied with it and must be ordered separately, and this motor should not be used with the 927 patch pin.
Motors give plenty of warning. Suction falls away over months rather than overnight, the machine runs hotter and louder than it used to, and eventually it starts cutting out mid-clean as the thermal protection trips. A burning smell means stop.
It fits the XL21 range, XL21-600, XL21-700 and XL21-750, along with the U7000ECB, U7000ECP, U7000ECR, U7030ECBS, U7050ECB, U7100ECB, U7200 and U7300 machines and the U7211 variants. Unplug the vacuum and let it cool completely before starting.
