The Oreck intake pivot (part #430000972) is a replacement joint for the Oreck 8000 and 9000 series upright vacuums, including model RU2240HHS. It connects the upper body to the nozzle and lets the machine tilt back as you steer it across the floor.
The pivot takes constant flexing every time the handle reclines, so it eventually cracks, wears loose, or binds. A failing pivot makes the vacuum stiff to recline, wobbly, or prone to leaking air at the joint. A new pivot restores the smooth tilt and sealed airpath the design depends on.
