Where the power cord leaves the handle of an Oreck upright it passes through a molded protector, and that protector is the only thing standing between years of flexing and the conductors inside. Part 03-00600-01 is the replacement for the XL and U series uprights.
When the protector splits or falls off, the cord bends sharply at the exit point every time the handle is reclined. The first sign is usually intermittent power, where the vacuum cuts out when the cord is moved a certain way. The last sign is exposed copper. Neither is worth living with.
It fits across the U-series line, from the U2000E, U2000E2, U2000EB, U2000H and U2000HH through the U2160HH, U2250RS, U2510RH and U2640RH, and on into the U3120HH, U3620HH, U3700HH, U3720HG, U3760HH, U3770HH and the U3772 and U3773 variants. Fitting one is a handle-off job with hand tools.
