Product details
A low drone that was not there last year usually starts at the back of the motor. Part 6189 is the rear mounting that keeps the motor's tail located and damped inside a C-series canister, working with the front mounting so no metal touches the plastic directly. It is listed for the C1.1, the C2.1 and the C3.1.
When this piece hardens or splits, the tail of the motor begins to move under load. That movement changes how the motor lines up in its bay, adds the drone to the sound, and puts stress on hoses and wiring routed close by. Left long enough it also wears the seat the mounting sits in, which turns a small job into a larger one. A new mounting takes the play out and returns the motor to a settled position.
Because both ends age at the same rate, the rear mounting is rarely worth changing on its own. The front is 6173 and the rubber mounting pair is 6188ER, both carrying the same C1.1, C2.1 and C3.1 fitment, and fitting all three together restores the suspension as designed rather than propping up one corner of it. Anyone already replacing the motor should order 6165, which arrives with its 05101S carbon brush set, and take the opportunity to renew the mounts underneath it while access is easy.
