This is an Ametek Lamb single-stage vacuum motor, 8.4 inches in diameter, wound for 120 volts and running on ball bearings. It is sold as part 122133-00 and is listed for the Lamb 8556.
Single-stage motors of this size are the pumping heart of larger canisters, central units and wet/dry machines. When one is on the way out you hear it first: the pitch rises, the bearings whine or rumble, and the machine draws down noticeably on suction.
