Part 009640301 is the red 38 brush roller listed for the Lindhaus Hpro and CHpro commercial uprights. Red is the optional grade in this size rather than the roller these machines are normally supplied with.
The roller's bristles agitate carpet pile as the machine passes over it, working embedded grit and debris loose so the airflow can carry it away. Reaching for the optional grade instead of the one already fitted is usually a call made on the carpet rather than on the machine: denser or higher-traffic pile that the current roller is not clearing as well as it should.
Uneven pile grooming, or a dull matted look to the carpet after a pass, points to a roller that has flattened with use, and that happens whichever grade is fitted. It is also worth pulling the roller and turning it by hand every so often to clear the hair and thread that wrap around the ends, since that alone can rob a machine of agitation long before the bristles themselves are worn out.
