Koblenz sells part 46-2413-6 as a complete, ready-to-fit brush roll for the U-610DC Wide Track upright, and the same part number covers the U90 as well.
Carpet that stops looking groomed after a normal pass is the clearest sign the old roll is due. Bristles wear down at the tips first, losing the springy snap that flings loose dirt up ahead of the nozzle rather than pushing it along the pile. The quickest way to judge how far it has gone is to compare bristle height along the full length of the roller rather than at one spot, since a roll rarely wears evenly end to end.
Because Koblenz lists this one as a complete roll, nothing has to be carried over from the old part and the replacement goes in as it comes. Clear any hair and thread wrapped around the old roller before it is lifted out, since a wrap that has packed solid makes the job harder than it needs to be.
Run a thumb along the drive belt while the machine is open and check it for glazing or stretch. A sluggish roller almost always leaves matching wear on the belt underneath it, so mounting a fresh roller onto a tired belt undoes most of the benefit the repair was meant to deliver.
