The rubber handle pivot boot (Part #818014) is a genuine OEM component for the Kirby Avalir and Avalir Platinum. The boot flexes at the handle pivot, letting the handle recline for cleaning and lock upright for storage.
As the rubber ages and cracks, the pivot loses its firm feel, so the handle can go loose or floppy and may not lock into position. A fresh boot restores tight, controlled movement at the pivot and a secure upright lock.
