This drive belt, the Kenmore UB-1 (part 31125), keeps the brush roll spinning on the Kenmore 3106 upright. Power runs from the motor through the belt to the roller so it can agitate carpet and lift dirt. Also available as part #47-3108-00.

A worn or stretched belt slows or stops the brush roll, which drops cleaning performance right away. Signs you need a new one include a slowing roller, a burning rubber smell, or weaker pickup on carpet. Belts should be replaced every three to six months under normal use.
