This genuine OEM pre-filter basket holds the pre-filter in position on the Kenmore DS4015 and DS4090 stick vacuums. The basket cradles the filter element so it seats correctly in the airflow path, keeping filtration and airflow properly aligned.
A basket that is cracked, warped, or missing lets the pre-filter shift or sit crooked, which opens a gap for dust to bypass the filtration system and reach the motor. A sound basket re-seats the filter squarely so all air passes through the media as intended.
