The lower hose, part 561055144, is the internal duct on the Kenmore DU2015 and 30725 bagless uprights that carries dirt-laden air from the floor nozzle up to the dirt cup. It spends its life being flexed every time the handle is reclined, which is why it is one of the first things on the machine to split.
A cracked or unseated lower hose costs you suction twice over: air leaks in through the split instead of being drawn through the carpet, and debris can drop out inside the machine. The symptom is a vacuum that sounds perfectly normal, even strong, but picks up poorly at the nozzle.
Fits the Kenmore DU2015 and 30725. Push each end fully onto its fitting so the joint holds when the machine is under vacuum.
