Holding the intake or exhaust filter in its housing on Hoover WindTunnel uprights, this replacement filter retainer (Part #36426034) keeps the filter from shifting or letting air bypass during operation. It locks the filter firmly in place.
A missing retainer lets the filter seat loosely, and unfiltered air then slips around it and exits the machine, carrying dust back into the room. A secure retainer keeps the filter seated so all airflow passes through the media as intended.
