The Hoover upright receptacle and wiring harness assembly, part 91001034, is the replacement electrical assembly that carries power from the cord to the motor and internal switches on several Hoover uprights. When one of these machines will not power on, or cuts in and out intermittently, this assembly is one of the most common failure points to check. A frayed or heat-damaged harness is also a genuine safety concern, so it is not a repair to postpone once you spot it.
Installing the new assembly restores a sound electrical path through the vacuum and lets you keep using a machine whose motor and mechanical parts are otherwise perfectly fine. It is a far better outcome than retiring a good upright over a wiring fault.
This receptacle and harness assembly fits Hoover models U8171-900, U8172-900, and U8187-900, as well as the UH40080.
