The Hoover trunion mount for the U5163 Fold Away upright is the pivoting bracket that lets the handle fold flat for compact storage and transport, and it fits model C1660. On a vacuum whose whole appeal is folding down small, this bracket does a lot of quiet work.
When the trunion mount breaks, the folding feature goes with it. The handle may refuse to fold, sag under light pressure, or develop enough play that the vacuum feels loose in your hands during normal cleaning. None of that improves on its own.
Installing a new mount restores a solid pivot, a handle that locks where it should, and the flat-folding storage the Fold Away was designed around. This part is compatible with model C1660. Confirm your model number before ordering to be sure of fit.
