This brush speed indicator knob (Part #38421092) is a replacement knob for the Hoover SteamVac. It sets and displays the brush speed for different carpet types and clips onto the control shaft.
When the knob cracks or the pointer snaps off, you lose the ability to see and select the speed you want, which makes it easy to run the brush too fast or too slow for the carpet. A fresh knob restores clear speed selection and a positive grip on the control.
