The Hoover hood for the F5857 SteamVac carpet cleaner covers the top of the cleaning head, where it directs airflow and shields internal components from debris splash-back during extraction. On a machine that recovers dirty water at close range, that protection is doing real work every session.
A cracked or missing hood disrupts the airflow path across the cleaning head and leaves the components underneath exposed to moisture and grit, both of which shorten the life of the machine. Replacing the hood promptly is the simple way to avoid larger repairs later.
