This height adjustment lever spring is an OEM replacement part for Hoover Convertible upright vacuums, including models 1030, C1065, C1069, and C1085. The spring keeps tension on the height adjustment lever so the nozzle stays at the carpet setting you choose instead of drifting out of position.
Springs are simple parts, but a stretched or broken one shows up quickly in how the vacuum behaves. If the height lever will not hold its setting, or the adjustment feels slack, this small piece is the likely cause, and replacing it is far simpler than replacing the entire lever assembly.
