The Hoover Guardsman upright support plate, part 34355002, is an internal structural part that reinforces the body of Guardsman upright vacuums. When the original plate cracks or goes missing, the housing loses rigidity, and you will usually notice it as extra vibration, rattling components, or a machine that simply sounds rougher than it used to.
Replacing the plate restores the structural stability the vacuum was built with, so it runs quietly and smoothly again and the surrounding components stop working themselves loose. It is one of those repairs that costs little but noticeably extends the working life of an older upright.
This support plate fits Hoover Guardsman models U4313 and 1030. If you are not certain which Guardsman you own, the model number appears on the rating label on the machine.
