This detent spring fits the Oreck XL-21 upright and the Hoover CH95519, supplying the spring tension that locks the vacuum handle into its upright or reclined position at your chosen angle.
You only notice this part when it fails. The handle stops holding its upright position for storage, or flops past the reclined angle you set while cleaning, and the whole machine suddenly feels worn out. A weak or snapped detent spring is the usual cause, and it is a far simpler fix than it seems from the outside.
