The Hoover detent plate screw is a genuine OEM fastener that secures the detent plate on the C1431010, C1631, and C1632 commercial uprights. It holds the plate that indexes the handle-release positions, keeping the machine locked at each cleaning angle.
Threaded hardware in this location works loose from vibration, and a stripped or missing screw lets the detent plate shift, so the handle no longer holds its set positions and the housing rattles. Fitting the correct screw restores a tight, indexed lock.
