The Hoover cord reel assembly (part #440005125) fits the SH40070 and manages 17 feet of power cord with spring-loaded retraction. This genuine OEM reel winds the cord back into the machine at the touch of the rewind control.
The spring in a cord reel weakens with years of use, and once it does the cord stops retracting and storing the vacuum becomes a hassle. A jammed reel can also leave the cord stuck partway out. Fitting the correct reel restores smooth, automatic rewind.
