Hoover Celebrity Trip Lever

Product details
This trip lever replaces the release lever on the Hoover Celebrity, confirmed for models S2037 and S2043. Part 34664007 is the small actuating piece that trips a catch in the machine's mechanism, and like most release parts it does all of its work at one pivot, flexing the same way every single time it is used.
Release parts of this class fail in two recognizable stages. The first is sticking: the lever stops moving freely, the catch it operates hangs up, and whatever it releases needs a second or third try before it lets go. The second is outright breakage, where the lever cracks at its stress point and the catch can no longer be tripped at all. In either case the machine around it usually remains perfectly sound, which is what makes this an inexpensive, worthwhile repair rather than a reason to retire the vacuum.
The two confirmed models here are the S2037 and S2043, so check the model plate on your machine before ordering. If yours is a different Celebrity model, verify the part against your machine's parts diagram rather than assuming the lever carried over. Comparing the old lever against the product photo is also worth a minute, since release levers are shaped to one specific mechanism and a near-match will not seat or pivot correctly.
- Part: trip lever, part 34664007
- Fits: Hoover Celebrity S2037 and S2043
- Function: actuating lever that trips a release catch in the Celebrity's mechanism
- Replace when: the release sticks, drags, or the lever has cracked outright
A sensible check before ordering is to work the release by hand with the machine unplugged and feel whether the action is crisp or dragging. A lever that drags but still works is on its way out, and swapping it while it still functions is easier than dealing with one that has already snapped. It installs during normal service with basic hand tools, in place of the original part.
