The left-hand bottom plate latch (part 35446005) fits Hoover Convertible upright models, including model 1030. It sits at the nozzle and locks the bottom plate closed so the brush roll housing stays sealed while you vacuum.
When a latch cracks or loses tension, the bottom plate can drop open mid-clean, which lets air bypass the nozzle and drains suction at the floor. A worn latch also leaves the brush roll housing exposed to snags. Fitting a fresh left-hand latch returns a tight, sealed closure and steady airflow.
