This replacement grooved belt motor for the Kenmore PowerMate drives the grooved belt that spins the beater bar in the power nozzle. It provides the rotation that lets the brush roll agitate carpet for effective pickup, and it is built to take a grooved-style belt.
A motor that is failing causes the brush roll to stop turning or spin inconsistently, often with grinding noise or a burning smell. When the nozzle brush no longer rotates, replacing the motor restores full carpet-cleaning action across the Kenmore canister system.
