This replacement geared motor drives the brush roll in the Eureka CV280 and Sanitaire SP6952AC power nozzles. Working through its gear set, it spins the brush roll that agitates carpet, independent of the central unit's suction motor.
When this motor fails, the brush roll stops turning even though the central vacuum still pulls air, so carpet agitation stops. A stalled roll, a burning smell, or grinding noises point to motor trouble. A sound geared motor restores full brush roll drive.
