Part R2540 is a 9-1/2 inch replacement bristle strip made of natural horse hair, cut to fit inside Rainbow's floor brush tool. Horse hair sits at a useful point between soft and stiff for bare-floor work, staying gentle on finished hardwood and stone while holding enough backbone to lift grit out of tile grout lines.
Length is the detail worth confirming before ordering: this strip is cut for the narrower version of the tool and does not fit the wider 11 inch model, so measure the channel inside the tool body first rather than judging by eye.
It is the listed insert for the Rainbow D4, spanning the 2889, 2894 and 2901 machines, along with the D4C and D4C SE, and coverage carries over to the E series too, reaching the E one-speed model and both the one-speed and two-speed builds of the E2, so a shop stocking just this one strip can cover most of the D4 and E family in a single part.
Change the insert once its bristles have fanned out to the sides or worn down to a stub, since bristles in that state stop lifting fine dust up into the airflow and instead push it forward ahead of the tool, leaving a faint film behind on a floor that otherwise looks clean.
