The floor brush bumper for the RX-53 (Part #R18491) is a replacement strip that guards the edge of the floor brush against impact. It cushions contact with furniture legs, baseboards, and cabinets as you guide the tool through a room.
A bumper hardens, splits, or wears away with use, and once it is gone the bare edge of the brush can scuff walls and scratch furniture. A missing bumper also lets the tool knock harder into obstacles. Fitting a fresh bumper restores the protective buffer around the floor brush.
