This replacement pre-motor foam filter fits the Bissell 1700 and is also sold as part #1608225. Positioned ahead of the motor, it captures dust and debris before that air reaches the motor housing.

A pre-motor filter that is clogged, compressed, or torn either starves the motor of airflow or lets grit through to damage it. Either way you lose suction and risk shortening the motor's life. A clean filter keeps airflow strong and shields the motor from abrasive dust.

  • Tip: rinse in warm water monthly and dry fully before refitting

Rinse or swap it and seat it back in the original filter bay for a direct fit. Replace every 6 to 9 months, or sooner if it stays discolored or will not spring back.
