This replacement filter basket fits Kenmore DS1020 and DS1030 cordless stick vacuums. The basket holds the filter element in position and directs air through it as the vacuum runs.
A cracked or warped basket lets air slip around the filter instead of through it, which reduces filtration and can carry fine dust into the motor. Broken tabs may also stop the filter from seating and locking. A correct basket restores the proper airflow path and a secure filter fit.
