Part B386-1700 is a direct-air fan for Riccar and Simplicity upright vacuums, the impeller that turns with the motor shaft to move the airflow that lifts dirt into the bag.

Once a blade chips, cracks or warps, pickup drops off fast and the fan can start knocking the whole assembly out of balance, sending a vibration straight into the motor bearings the longer it keeps running. A properly balanced replacement brings the airflow and the quiet running back together.

Check the old impeller for chipped or cracked blade tips before you reinstall it out of habit, since a fan that looks fine from one angle can still be damaged on the trailing edge that does most of the work.
