The Riccar and Simplicity Direct Air Fan is the replacement suction fan for Brilliance and Synchrony upright vacuums, along with the matching Simplicity models built on the same platform. In a direct air upright, the fan is the heart of the machine, generating the airflow that pulls dirt off the carpet, so a chipped or cracked fan shows up immediately as weak suction.
Fans usually fail after the vacuum swallows a coin, a rock, or another hard object. If your upright suddenly lost cleaning power and got louder at the same time, the fan is the first thing to check.
