A buzz or a click from the back of the machine, growing louder as the motor spins up, usually means the exhaust cover has stopped being held down properly. Part 5008GS is the catch that does that holding on the SEBO AUTOMATIC X1 and AUTOMATIC X2, finished in gray black to match the darker bodywork.
The catch is a small molded latch that pulls the exhaust filter cover tight against its housing. Once the tab loses its bite the cover lifts a fraction, and that gap is enough for some of the exhaust air to slip past the edge of the filter rather than through it. Left alone, the loose panel works its way open, snags on furniture, and eventually breaks off along with whatever is holding it. Fitting a fresh catch takes a moment, costs a fraction of the cover it retains, and puts the rattle out of the machine.

Anyone opening the exhaust side of one of these uprights may as well look at the pre-motor filter behind safety catch 5208 while the machine is apart, choosing between microfilter 5036AM, anti-odor microfilter 5425AM and HEPA microfilter 5812ER. Filter bags come as 5093AM, or bundled with filters in service box 5828AM and HEPA service box 5827AM.
