The Sanitaire strain relief spring for upright vacuums is a genuine OEM replacement part, sold here in a pack of five. The spring supports the power cord where it enters the machine, preventing the sharp bending at the entry point that is a common cause of cord failure on hard-working uprights.
If a cord keeps breaking where it meets the vacuum, or you can see fraying near the strain relief, a new spring stops the damage from progressing and extends the life of the cord. The five pack is practical for anyone maintaining more than one machine. Disconnect the vacuum from power before installing.
