Part BRUSHROLL9 is the replacement brush roll for the geared-belt power nozzle used on the Eureka and Sanitaire SC7100A, the Titan PB11, and the Oreck U2000R-1 and U2000RB2L-1.
Bristles are a wear item with no service life you can put on a calendar, because it is hours against carpet rather than months on the shelf that shortens them. The quickest check is a straight edge laid across the roll: look at how far the bristle rows still stand proud of the body. A roll whose rows have worn back nearly level has stopped doing the part of the job that suction alone cannot do, however healthy the rest of the nozzle sounds.
Two other symptoms point at the roll itself rather than at anything upstream of it. A knock or rumble that rises and falls with roll speed usually means the roll body is no longer running true, and a squeal that appears under load, then stops the moment the head is tipped up off the carpet, points at an end that is no longer turning freely.
