This replacement 12 amp motor, part D123-5300, is listed for the Eureka SC412B and Sanitaire SC412B backpack vacuums, along with the Carpet Pro SCBP1 backpack and the Powr-Flite PF300.
A motor at the end of its service life on these machines rarely quits without warning. It usually announces itself first: suction falls off even with a clean bag and filters, the unit runs louder or rougher than before, or it gives off a warm, faintly burnt smell after a few minutes of use. Any one of those is worth checking before the motor stops turning altogether, since a seized motor can also damage the fan and housing around it on the way out.

If you are not certain the old motor is actually the cause of the problem, a continuity check across its leads with the vacuum unplugged and the motor disconnected from the wiring harness will confirm whether the winding has failed open, which rules out chasing a switch or wiring fault instead of the motor itself.
