Built for Sanitaire 899-series commercial uprights, this replacement handle socket assembly (Part #36648A2) includes the integrated spring and lets the handle lock at multiple angles and release smoothly when the foot pedal is pressed. It carries the handle at its pivot.
As the socket or its spring wears, the handle no longer holds position reliably and can flop forward or resist release, making the vacuum awkward to steer. A fresh assembly restores secure locking and a clean, smooth release.
