Black end cap HS202132 pushes into the open end of a Hide A Hose retractable hose, where it holds the hose sock in place and keeps the hose end round so it feeds cleanly back through the wall tubing. The cap is molded PVC and measures 1-3/8 inches across.
Color is not cosmetic on this part. Hide A Hose builds the black cap for its older style hoses and a white cap, part HS202203, for the Rapid Flex hose, and the two are not interchangeable even though they share a diameter. Order by the hose you actually own rather than by what matches your valve trim.
A cap that has cracked, gone missing, or worked loose lets the hose end flatten. The sock can then creep back from the end, and the flattened rim starts catching at the valve opening instead of sliding through, which is what a homeowner usually notices well before any change in suction shows up at the tool.
