Part R11137 is a seven-foot electric hose built for the Rainbow E and E2 series. It carries current from the canister out to the power nozzle as well as carrying the airflow, so a plain suction hose of the same length is not a substitute for it.
This hose is built for the one-speed E series, the one-speed E2 series, and the two-speed E2 Type 12 machines, which covers both the Gold and the Blue Platinum versions of that two-speed line. Rainbow has produced several distinct series over the years with different wiring and hose fittings between them, so match your machine against this list rather than assuming any Rainbow hose will interchange with any other.
Electric hoses on a canister machine wear at the flex points closest to either cuff. A split near the wand end bleeds suction there while the canister continues to sound like it is running at full strength, and a broken internal conductor causes the power nozzle to cut out or flicker any time the hose gets twisted or coiled up, even though suction through it stays normal. Coiling the hose loosely for storage rather than folding it tightly at one spot helps keep the internal wiring from fatiguing at a single point over repeated use.
