This two-pack of shaggy dusting pads, part AD50005, replaces the pads used on Dirt Devil steam mops in the PD20000 series, including the PD20001 and PD20002. The shaggy texture is what grips loose dust and debris while the mop head moves, ahead of the steam that follows behind it.
A pad flattens and loses its grip with repeated washing and use, and once that happens it starts pushing dust around rather than lifting it. Swapping to a fresh pad brings pickup back immediately, and having two in the pack means a second pad is always ready even while the first sits in the wash.
Washing a shaggy pad by hand or on a gentle machine cycle and letting it air dry keeps the loops from matting down the way a hot dryer can. Even with careful washing, the loops eventually flatten for good after enough cycles, and no amount of washing brings back a pad that has stopped gripping.
