Product details

Nozzle guard for the Dirt Devil UD70010, part 521645001. It fits across the front of the cleaning head, setting the clearance the brush roll works at and holding the opening to the right shape.

Guards crack and warp because they are the part that meets skirting boards, chair legs and door thresholds. Once the shape changes, the gap between head and floor changes with it, and the machine starts pushing a line of debris ahead of itself instead of drawing it in. Edge pickup is usually the first thing to go.

With the guard off, it is worth spinning the brush roll by hand and checking the belt before you fit the new one. You will not have the head apart again for a while.
