Canisters live on their castors, and this one — SEBO 6095DG — arrives complete in dark gray for the C-series body. The swivel lets the machine change direction as you turn, so the canister follows the hose around a corner rather than tipping over or ploughing sideways.
Hair winds itself around the axle, the swivel stiffens, and eventually the wheel skids instead of rolling. That is the point at which hard floors start collecting fine grey lines and the machine feels heavy on the end of the hose. A sound castor rolls and pivots freely from the first pass.

Castors are worth renewing as a group once one has gone, since they wear at much the same rate and a single stiff wheel will fight the others across a hard floor. Cut away any hair still wrapped on the spindle before the new one goes on, or the fresh castor simply inherits the problem.
