This replacement black pre-filter fits the Austin Air HealthMate air purifier. As the first stage of filtration, it captures larger dust and debris so the main carbon and HEPA media downstream last longer and work more efficiently.
A pre-filter loads up faster than any other stage, and once it clogs it restricts airflow through the whole unit and forces particles onto the costly main filter. That means weaker air delivery and shorter life for the expensive media. A fresh pre-filter restores full airflow and protects the filters behind it.
