Part R14857C is an eight-foot electric hose in black, made to serve a Rainbow E2 Type 12 canister and the PN-12 power nozzle working from it. Its conductors carry current the length of the hose so the nozzle draws power from the canister, which is what separates it from a plain suction hose of the same size.
Rexair has produced the E and E2 machines in several distinct series, and hoses do not carry across all of them, so this one is specified for the E2 Type 12 in its Black Series form rather than for Rainbow canisters generally. Check the series marked on your machine against that listing before ordering. If the vacuum has changed hands, or the hose currently fitted to it was sourced by someone else, compare the coupling at the canister end against this listing rather than assuming the hose already on the machine was the correct one.
Look for the wear pattern that shows up on any electric hose over time: the power nozzle flickering as the hose bends, a nozzle that will not start at all, or a split opening in the outer wall near either cuff. Any of those points back to the hose itself rather than the power unit, and bending the hose by hand while the nozzle runs is usually all it takes to isolate whether the fault lives inside the hose or somewhere further down the line.
