Built as an OEM height adjustment knob (Part #3133725) for the Bissell 3540, this control raises and lowers the cleaning head so the vacuum matches carpet and hard-floor surfaces. It sets the distance between the brush roll and the floor.
A worn or cracked knob can turn without moving the head, leaving the vacuum stuck too high to reach embedded dirt or too low to push smoothly, which strains the brush roll and can damage carpet. A sound knob restores full control over the head height.
